Many a time, we crave unhealthy snacks like potato chips and sweet chocolate. Bake Free always offers you recipes for healthy snacks like oven-baked potato chips and popcorn. Today our recipe is also a healthy snack, toasted spiced chickpeas. Chickpeas or garbanzo beans are an excellent source of protein, fiber, manganese and folate. Enjoy this guilt-free snack whenever you feel like munching on something!


- 1 can chickpeas, drained and washed
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp ground coriander
- ½ tsp garam masala or curry powder
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper or chili flakes
- Pinch black pepper


  1. Put the chickpeas in a bowl.
  2. Add oil, lemon juice, salt, and all spices.
  3. Mix well and spread on an oven sheet.
  4. Bake in a pre-heated oven (190°C) for 10 minutes.
  5. Take out from oven, stir well, then bake for 10 more minutes, or until crispy and toasted.
  6. Keep in a well-sealed jar for few days.
